HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE (1953)—Betty Grable, Marilyn Monroe, and Lauren Bacall pool their minimal resources to rent a Manhattan penthouse in the hopes of ensnaring rich husbands. The first film made in the wide screen “Cinemascope” format sometimes tries too hard to show it off, but manages not to distract from an entertaining all-star comedy. With David Wayne, Rory Calhoun, Fred Clark, and William Powell. Directed by Jean Negulesco (Johnny Belinda). Sat 7 pm Screening Room.

THE LADY VANISHES (1938)—Heiress Margaret Lockwood and musician Michael Redgrave team up to investigate how Dame May Whitty disappeared from a moving train in this comic mystery that was one of Alfred Hitchcock’s last British films before moving to Hollywood. LED ZEPPELIN: CELEBRATION DAY—Concert film of the band’s 2007 reunion show in London. Tues 7:30 pm. Screening Room

MAGNOLIA (1999)—Paul Thomas Anderson’s mosaic film about troubled souls in Los Angeles features what will probably go down as Tom Cruise’s best performance, along with excellent work from an ensemble cast including Jason Robards, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, John C. Reilly, Philip Baker Hall, and Alfred Molina. Presented as part of the Buffalo Film Seminar. Tues. 7 pm. Market Arcade.
