Local Author Judith Frizlen Talks About Her New Book

On parenting

Talking Leaves Bookstore continues its guest author events this Saturday, September 13th, at 11am. The guest author is Judith Frizlen, Buffalo’s local child educator, mother, community supporter and author. Frizlen will be discussing and signing her recently released book, Words for Parents in Small Doses.

Frizlen’s experience as an early childhood teacher and as director of Rose Garden Early Childhood Center, as well as being a mother herself, has equipped her with knowledge in raising developing children. The Rose Garden Early Childhood Center is a Lifeway center that incorporates Austrian philosopher and Waldorf School founder Rudolf Stiener’s methods in human development. Frizlen and her specially trained teachers provide a warm, homelike experience where children learn through play with natural and sense-nourishing materials and engagement in practical activities like gardening and baking.

Words for Parents in Small Doses shares Frizlen’s wisdom through weekly readings that provide discussions, questions and thought provoking messages that suggest healthy practices she has found successful. Instead of guidelines and rules you find in most parenting books, Frizlen offers a meditative read with a rhythmic approach to create a greater connection between the parents mind and their young child’s developing mind. The book is an easy-read, categorized by season and certain moods associated with a season, e.g., winter focuses on reflection.

Words for Parents in Small Doses will benefit any parent and the questions and themes it raises are practical to many different lifestyles and family types.

Purchasing the book is like purchasing fertilizer for your seeds—it will help aid the growth of you and your child to a greater consciousness.

11am, Saturday (9/13) at Talking Leaves Bookstore, 951 Elmwood Ave.
