Meeting someone for drinks in Buffalo usually means you’ll be ordering some sort of beer—could be a Labatt Blue, a PBR, Bud, an import or a local craft brew. One thing is certain: People here are more likely to be downing a cold one at a sports bar in the suburbs than drinking cocktails at a downtown bar.

The openly adversarial relationship between New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Buffalo Teachers Federation (BTF) is about to become more oppositional, or at least more dramatic. The Buffalo theater community will memorialize actor Gary Darling on Wednesday, March 18 at 7pm at the New Phoenix Theatre. It seems impossible that he arrived in our community just seven years ago. He became a fixture in no time at all.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): In the fairy tale “The Ugly Duckling,” the young hero suffers from a peculiar case of mistaken identity. He believes that he is a duck. All of his problems stem from this erroneous idea. By duck standards, he is a homely mess.
