Okemah performs "40 Acres"

Okemah shares its name with the Oklahoma city that was the birthplace and beloved hometown of the legendary Woody Guthrie. With the band’s rootsy, traditional American music this ode to Guthrie seems appropriate, though the inclusion of unmistakable elements of blues, jazz and country push that traditional folk sound to new heights. This Saturday (Dec. 16) marks Okemah’s first appearance in Buffalo, where they’ll play the early show at the Mohawk Place beginning at 8pm. Mark Norris and the Backpeddlers CD Release Show follows at 10pm, making this a one-stop party night at the ‘Hawk.
