The Big Sleep

The Big Sleep performs "Murder"

One of the newest arrivals on the hip French Kiss Records, The Big Sleep is a Brookyn trio that collides psychedelia and early 90s shoegaze with enormous oceans of sound. Awash with reverb and delay, their songs are layers of celestial feedback and distortion, schizophrenic drumming and the occasional haunting vocals of bassist Sonya Balchandani. Their label debut Son Of The Tiger has been getting rave reviews in the underground press, a hypnotic drone piece that invokes memories of My Bloody Valentine or Slowdive without sacrificing its individuality. The Big Sleep performs at Mohawk Place on Friday (Feb. 23) at 10pm. They will be playing with the new rejuvenated Besnyo as well as Mark Nosowicz (of The Old Sweethearts) and Alex Berkely.
