Round 3 Week 1: Free Henry! vs. One and One

First things first, we’d like to congratulate Fashion Expo 1990 for bringing out the vote at our second BOOM quarterfinal Friday the 13th at Nietzsche’s! The duo’s retro-techno-dance beats thrilled fans who crowded the dancefloor and balconies. We’ll see you, along with Peanut Brittle Sattelite, and two more bands yet to be decided at the Grand Finale in May.

Congratulations Fashion Expo 1990!

This week, we kick off the first round of our third quarterfinal with a matchup between One and One and Free Henry! Check both bands out below, and cast a vote for your favorite by February 24—Mardi Gras.

Remember that our IT guy is very savvy, and he’ll be monitoring the votes more closely than an election lawyer in Ohio. Don’t try to stuff the ballot. If you’re caught cheating, you can be disqualified. And there’s nowhere to appeal our decision.

Also, musicians, there’s still time to enter BOOM. Many more acts will be featured on these pages before the big Grand Finale. Visit our registration page to find out how to enter.

The rewards for the winners are great. They will receive a recording package from Audio Magic, and 100 CDs of that recording from ESP CD & DVD Manufacturing. The four winners of our live quarterfinals will face off in our Grand Finale in May. The winner that night will win a slot on WBFO’s Wednesday night concerts live from Allen Hall, a video produced by Artvoice, and a nice cash prize as well.

We’re happy to present this contest with the help of our great sponsors: Nietzsche’s, ESP, WBFO and AUdio Magic. They all play a vital role in making our town a hotspot of original music. But we can’t make msic without u. So take a listen and vote for your favorite. And may the best band win.

Voting is closed for these bands.

Best show played? Club Infinity June of 2008 w/ Blind Melon, sharing the stage with one of the biggest bands of the 90’s, there was enormous energy in the crowd.

Worst show played? Willowcreek Winery Festival in August of 2008. We had our guitarist’s car with half of our equipment in it stolen while loading up for the show. The Niagara Falls Police fortunately found my car shortly after with most of our gear still in it. Then while at the festival just before we went on it poured and thunderstormed and blew a transformer.

Why you should win the Artvoice.com Online Battle of Original Music: Because we have the most quality original music in Buffalo that a lot of people don’t know about. Winning boom could be the vehicle to bring our music to the forefront of the local music scene, which is where it deserves to be.
