Round 3 Week 2: The Frogbots vs. Angel Down

Lots and lots of votes this week. And the winner is…Free Henry! We’ll see you at the next live showdown at Nietzsche’s on March 27. This week we’d like to introduce you to the Frogbots and Angel Down.

As always, you can check out both bands below. Cast a vote for your favorite by Tuesday, March 3.

Remember that our IT guy is very savvy, and he’ll be monitoring the votes more closely than an election lawyer in Ohio. Don’t try to stuff the ballot. If you’re caught cheating, you can be disqualified. And there’s nowhere to appeal our decision.

Also, musicians, there’s still time to enter BOOM. Many more acts will be featured on these pages before the big Grand Finale. Visit the registration page to find out how to enter. JUST MAKE SURE YOU SEND US ALL THREE THINGS: SONG, PHOTO & QUESTIONNAIRE. Meatloaf tells us that two out of three ain’t bad, but I’m telling you that two out of three SUCKS! Because we can’t include you in our contest without all the required materials.

The rewards for the winners are great. They will receive a recording package from Audio Magic, and 100 CDs of that recording from ESP CD & DVD Manufacturing. The four winners of our live quarterfinals will face off in our Grand Finale in May. The winner that night will win a slot on WBFO’s Wednesday night concerts live from Allen Hall, a video produced by Artvoice, and a nice cash prize as well.

We’re happy to present this contest with the help of our great sponsors: Nietzsche’s, ESP, WBFO and Audio Magic. They all play a vital role in making our town a hotspot of original music. But we can’t make msic without u. So cast your vote. And may the best band win.

The Frogbots

You need to have the Adobe Flash Player installed to listen. Download it for free here.
Listen to Still I'll Wait by The Frogbots

Band name: The Frogbots

When did the band form? In Fredonia New York’s cold winter months of 2008.

You might like us if you like: Wilco, The Libertines, The Kinks, The Byrds, The Zombies

List of recorded releases: Frogbots (The 518 Demos)

Best show played? The best shows are always when you have the best crowd response so it was definitely at the Bug Jar over the summer when we played with our good friends Hotel Reverie.

Worst show played? In a friend’s basement which is basically an echo chamber with six foot tall ceilings and a dirt floor.

Why you should win the Online Battle of Original Music: I could say something like: “We have such a unique sound” but everyone says that right? The truth is that we just like to have fun when we play music which is one thing I think a lot of acts out there have forgotten about. Come see us live and you’ll know what I mean!

Angel Down

You need to have the Adobe Flash Player installed to listen. Download it for free here.
Listen to Freak by Angel Down

Band name: Angel Down

When did the band form? We formed a little less than a year ago after playing in previous bands and deciding to get together and see what we can do. It clicked and we picked up steam right away.

You might like us if you like: Classic Rock or Hard Rock, we’re a mix of both something like Black Crowes meets Poison meets Aerosmith meets Buckcherry!

List of recorded releases: Just a 3 song EP. We’re currently recording our first full length.

Best show played? Well our very first show when won a battle of the bands and Now we’re opening for major acts so those are always the best ones!

Worst show played? Hmm. Let’s just hope we don’t ever have to say we’ve had a bad one.

Why you should win the Online Battle of Original Music: I think we deserve it because we all have a lot of passion about our music and a love for what we do. and I know a lot of bands say that but we’re dedicated to this and we push and push ourselves to try to be the best show in town and we hope that people will see that fire in us.
