Editor's Pick: Tokyo Police Club
Three Billboard charting albums in four years and the members of Tokyo Police Club are only now approaching their mid 20’s. The future looks pretty bright for this four-piece indie rock band from Newmarket, Ontario, Canada.
Editor's Pick: The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performs the Grateful Dead
There is something about the idea of a full orchestra performing the music of the Grateful Dead—a band that has always stood as an icon of counter-culture—that feels strangely victorious. It’s like a yuppie wearing tie-dye or a suit smoking a joint. The combination of the Dead’s greatest hits and the sheer talent of the BPO is sure to impress even the most hardcore Dead Heads.
Editor's Pick: Fountains of Wayne
Stacy’s mom definitely had it goin’ on, but that was almost 10 years ago. If she was a MILF back then, that certainly makes her a cougar now.
Editor's Pick: The Jesus and Mary Chain
The word “Pyschocandy” perfectly sums up the Jesus and Mary Chain’s fuzzy combination of twee pop and hard rock. After a break-up and reformation, the Scottish five-piece approach 30 years of feedback in the rock arena.
Editor's Pick: The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have been the quintessential ska-punk band since their formation in 1983 and they’re still pumping out albums. With frontman Dicky Barrett still at the helm, there’s sure to be some sweaty moshing and skanking going on when the eight-piece band comes to the harbor this summer.
Editor's Pick: Theory of a Deadman
It’s hard to ignore that Theory of a Deadman are signed to Nickleback’s Chad Kroeger’s record label 604 Records. It’s also hard to ignore how much Theory of a Deadman actually sound like Nickelback too, but if you can get over those things—and if you’re the type of person who already likes things like World Wrestling Entertainment and the movie Transformers—then you might enjoy Theory of a Deadman’s beer stained, hard rock set.
