Jackson and Jules will bring classic Torch music to the Elmwood Lounge tonight (Thursday, Aug. 24), 10pm-12am. Julie Kittsley is a WNY native and accomplished actress, singer, and director. Her accompanyist, Norman Jackson, comes out of the Chicago blues scene with a performance career that has spanned over 50 years.Jackson's younger years in Chicago saw him playing with notable jazzmen Eddie Harris and Clifford Jordan, and he claims the great Sun-Ra as his personal mentor. Now an active member of the Colored Musician's Club, locally he's shared the stage with Boyd Lee Dunlop, Carol McLaughlin, Alvin Shepard, and the late Al Tinney. Jackson and Jules will perform selections from Arlen, Ellington, Gershwin, and others tonight, and another performance is set for next Thursday (Aug. 31), also at 10pm.
