Golombek Goes for Fisher
by Geoff Kelly
North District Councilman Joe Golombek has joined three members on the minority coalition in supporting Matt Fisher for the South District seat left vacant by Mickey Kearns. Fisher is Kearns’s guy, and was endorsed by the South District’s Democratic committee members last weekend—a recommendation that Ellicott District Councilman Darius Pridgen will have a difficult time ignoring, given the route he took to win his seat. The other favored candidate, Bryan Bollman—who was advanced by his boss, Council President Rich Fontana—has a residency problem: Last July he listed an address in the Lovejoy District on nominating petitions he circulated for Fontana. There are some dark horses who might be offered as compromise candidates (Patrick Burke, for example), but unless Golombek withdraws his support, it looks like the majority will have concede the vacancy to Fisher.
