The 23rd annual Artie Award ceremony will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Town Ballroom. Admission is a $10 donation, which benefits Benedict House, a facility that provides services to individuals in our community with HIV/AIDS and their families.

The doors open at 7pm and the event begins at 8pm. Hosts are Artvoice theater editor Anthony Chase, with actors Charmagne Chi and Amy Jakiel. The music director is Michael Hake. The evening features numbers from nominated shows and jazz vocalist Peggy Farrell. Jimmy Janowski will be on the red carpet with his eye on fashion for the evening.

This year’s Career Achievement Award winner is Mary Kate O’Connell, who has been a mainstay of musical theater in Western New York for many years, most recently through the auspices of O’Connell & Company, which will move to its new home at the Park School this year. In addition to being an Artie winner herself, Mary Kate was co-host of the first Artie Awards, 23 years ago!

Below is the complete list of nominees. Shows that opened after the first week of May 2013 will be eligible for next year.
