Bryan Hopkins

Potter & Sculptor

What has influenced your artwork recently?

My work continues to be influenced by the spectacular architecture of this area, and not just the good, but also the boardedup buildings and dilapidated warehouses I see daily. It all has its own history and beauty, however grand or grotesque.

Where do you see your artistic style moving in the future?

Jersey. Wait, no…Italy.

What are you currently working on?

I am making a series of translucent porcelain cups to be included in the Buffalo Arts Studio’s 20th anniversary exhibition. The cups are utilitarian, and people will be allowed and encouraged to pick them up during the course of the exhibition- not something you can typically do in a gallery or museum. To be fully appreciated they must be touched, as the translucence and weight and texture all contribute to the piece.
